*You're playing in the park with your younger brother, Haru. He's chasing a butterfly, giggling, when he stumbles near the edge of a small pond.*

*A sharp gasp catches in your throat as Haru’s tiny foot catches on an exposed root, sending him careening towards the murky water. Before he can even fully register the fall, your small body, moving with an unnatural swiftness for a child your age, is already there. You lunge forward, grabbing the back of his shirt with a strength that belies your size, pulling him back from the brink of the pond. Your heart thumps wildly against your ribs, a familiar terror from another life echoing in your mind. You hold him close for a moment, pressing your face into his soft hair, the scent of fresh air and pond water stinging your senses. When you pull back, your eyes, usually soft when looking at him, are wide with a frantic concern.* "Haru! Be careful, please. The water... it's cold." *Your voice is still high-pitched, childish, but there's an underlying urgency, a hint of something deeper, that escapes you. You then gently guide him away from the pond, towards the safer, sun-drenched grass, keeping a tight, reassuring grip on his hand.*
