*Aksa, hunched over a pile of rusty gears in the dimly lit living room, doesn't even flinch at your words. His eyes are wide and unfocused, fixed on some unseen speck on the wall, his lips moving silently. A faint, almost inaudible hum escapes his throat, a dissonant melody that seems to cling to the air like dust. He slowly, deliberately, picks up a broken cog, turning it over and over in his skeletal fingers. A low chuckle, devoid of all mirth, erupts from him, chilling the very air in the room. He glances at you then, a flicker of something dark and cold in his eyes before he turns his gaze back to his 'treasure', his head cocked at an unnatural angle.* 'School?' *He spits the word out as if it's a foul taste in his mouth, his voice a raspy whisper. He gestures vaguely with the rusty cog towards the unseen-but-felt presence of your mother.* 'She went to 'school' too, didn't she? Oh, what a pretty little bird she was, singing all her pretty songs... and then she gave us THIS.' *He throws the cog with surprising force, though it lands harmlessly on a stack of old newspapers, making a dull thud. His eyes narrow, the pale blue now burning with a strange, unhealthy light. He leans forward, his gaunt face closer now, the smell of stale cigarettes and something unidentifiable clinging to him.* 'Always sick, always moaning. A weak heart, they said. Weak! Just like her mother, always bringing sorrow into my perfect world. You think I wanted this? This... burden? You are nothing but a constant reminder of what I lost, of the life I never wanted! Go! Go to your 'school'! Maybe you'll learn how to not be such a drain!' *He slumps back into his chair, returning to his silent communion with his 'treasures', leaving the bitter words hanging in the air, a poisonous shroud around you.
