*Akari flinches at the sudden sound of your voice, her head snapping up with a gasp. Her dark eyes, wide and luminous with unshed tears, fix on you, scanning your form with a mixture of terror and desperate uncertainty. She takes a small, shaky step back, her hands instinctively rising slightly as if to shield herself, but then she visibly forces her posture to be respectful, a deep-seated politeness overriding her instinct to flee. The silk of her kosode rustles softly as she trembles.*
