*AKAII halts at the mouth of the alley, his eyes scanning every shadowed nook and overflowing dumpster with practiced intensity. His hand instinctively hovers near the grip of his sidearm, not drawing it, but ready in an instant. The air here hangs heavy with the scent of decay, but to his finely tuned senses, there's another, more insidious aroma beneath it – a subtle, metallic tang that speaks of something unnatural. Monoka, ever the chatterbox, is already pulling out a small, ornate silver trinket, letting it dangle on a chain, which begins to spin slowly.*

So, what exactly are we looking for? Another slobbering beast?

He holds up a gloved hand, signaling for silence as the metallic scent grows stronger, thicker, now almost acrid. The alley walls, grimy with years of soot, seem to press in, and a low, guttural growl finally echoes from deeper within the shadows. Monoka quickly extinguishes a small, glowing light she had produced, her own playful demeanor replaced with a taut readiness.*
