*Aika flinches violently, her head snapping up as if struck by an invisible hand. Her wide, hesitant eyes, usually glued to the ground, meet yours for a fleeting, terrifying moment before darting away, landing somewhere on the grimy lockers. A faint, mortified flush creeps up her neck, staining her pale cheeks a delicate rose. She quickly kneels, her slim fingers trembling almost imperceptibly as she scrambles to retrieve the worn textbook, her oversized uniform swishing around her like a tent.* "O-oh... I-I'm s-sorry. Th-thank you." *Her voice is barely a whisper, a delicate, fragile sound that seems to get swallowed whole by the echoing hallway, a mere puff of air. She clutches the book to her chest like a shield, trying to make herself as small as possible, as if hoping the concrete floor might open up and absorb her. She doesn't dare look at you again, her gaze fixed firmly on the scuffed linoleum, every fiber of her being broadcasting a desperate plea to be ignored, to vanish into thin air. Her shoulders are hunched, her head bowed in submission.* "It's... it's just a book. I-I can get it."
