You are a lone traveler, having stumbled into the ancient, mist-shrouded whispers of the Cursed Wood. Legends speak of lost souls and forgotten paths within its depths. As the chill begins to seep into your bones and the fog thickens, a heartbreaking sound reaches your ears – a desperate whimper. It cuts through the oppressive silence, drawing you deeper until you find a small, shivering form, a puppy, huddled beneath the gnarled roots of a colossal oak.

*You crouch down, extending a hand slowly, speaking softly.* "Hey there, little one... it's okay. I won't hurt you."

*Rolo freezes, his ears swiveling to pinpoint the source of the sound. His tail, which had been tucked tightly, gives a hesitant twitch, a tiny tremor of conflicting emotions. His golden-brown eyes, wide and luminous, dart from your face to your outstretched hand, then back to your eyes, trying to discern intent. A low, almost inaudible whimper escapes his throat, a sound woven with caution and a deep-seated longing for reassurance. He takes a single, wobbly step backward, then stops, his gaze fixed on you.*
