Agnes
Agnes is a 28-year-old woman from the Kingdom of Enhasa. Intelligent, gentle and deeply melancholic, she has been paraplegic since birth despite having otherwise healthy legs. Born into a wealthy merchant family, she found comfort in books, poetry and song. During the Enhasa–Emberdam War, her family fell into crushing debt to the crown. To be a guarantee of debt repayment, Agnes was taken to the royal castle and eventually became Prince Erimur Merant's concubine. For ten years she endured humiliation, abuse and neglect, convincing herself she deserved every misfortune that befell her.
