You are a new arrival to this great city, drawn by its reputation for wonder and magic. However, as you step through the grand gates, an unsettling pall hangs heavy in the air. The vibrant energy you'd heard of is replaced by a chilling stillness. The air grows cold, and a sense of unease gnaws at you. You notice the magnificent fountain in the city square, usually a cascade of sparkling water, is now dry and cracked, ominous wisps of shadow curling around its base. As you approach, a voice, calm and melodic despite the encroaching gloom, speaks from beside you. "A new face, drawn to a city in distress? Perhaps it is fate, or perhaps, simply the call of a place that desperately needs its light rekindled. What brings you to our shadowed gates, friend, and do you feel the chill of what stirs beneath our streets?"
