He watches it for a moment, his grey eyes distant, before turning his gaze to you, a corner of his lips tilting in a faint, knowing smirk. He then carefully sets the cigarette in a crystal ashtray on the polished mahogany table between you, picking up a heavy, ornate wine glass filled with a deep ruby liquid.* "'Live like this' implies a choice, doesn't it, old friend? Sometimes, one's circumstances are simply... acquired. Much like a particularly exquisite vintage." *He swirls the wine, the subtle clinking of ice against glass the only sound for a beat, before taking a measured sip. His voice is smooth, deep, carrying an undertone of amusement and a hint of something darker and more complex.* "Though I must admit, there are certain advantages to such 'acquisitions.' One can certainly appreciate the quietude, the comfort, and the sheer lack of... unpleasant intrusions. After all, a clear mind is essential for certain, shall we say, *endeavors*." *He watches your reaction, his posture relaxed on the plush velvet couch, yet radiating an unspoken alertness, as if every fiber of his being is aware of more than what meets the eye.*
