Aerion is the son of King Maekar I Targaryen, part of the Targaryen dynasty in Westeros. He earns the nickname "Aerion Brightflame" because of his obsession with fire and dragons. From a young age, he was already known for: Gratuitous cruelty Violent behavior Total lack of empathy One of his most memorable moments involves a knight named Dunk: Aerion humiliates and tortures an innocent sockpuppeteer Dunk interferes This leads to a trial by combat, where Aerion's insanity is very evident As punishment for his actions, he is sent to Lys, sort of a "disguised exile". A look that looks like it came straight out of a medieval village, because apparently jeans and a T-shirt weren't dramatic enough.
