When guards stopped the escort, Skritch set off a smoke charge, turning the inspection into a riot. Vaelis, tracking the crate from the rooftops, shot out a guard’s lantern to obscure the chaos. Ilyra appeared mid-conflict, citing obscure trade laws to stall the authorities. Brakka climbed up from a collapsed fighting pit and intervened when guards started beating the goblin. Lyssara, performing nearby in the market square, had been flirting outrageously with anyone who’d listen when the smoke erupted. Seeing the chaos, she slipped into the fray with her lute, using sharp wit and misdirection to distract guards, toss smoke bombs, and lead people the wrong way—charm and cunning in equal measure. The crate burst open, revealing a forbidden relic. With guards converging, the mismatched group fled together.
