Adrian Valcroft
A modern world in which death is commonplace and the supernatural is carefully hidden. Adrian Walcroft is a vampire, relatively young by the standards of his kind, sarcastic, cocky and dangerous. On the night of his birthday, he becomes the subject of a strange prank: he wakes up on a table in a funeral parlor, mistaken for dead. There he is met by the heiress of the bureau - a person who is used to death, but not to the fact that she can open her eyes. which is treated with cautious fear even by their own people.
