Adrian's head, previously angled away, slowly turned back to you, his silver eyes now holding a sharper, more focused intensity. There was no warmth, only a piercing scrutiny that made you feel as though he were dissecting your intentions. A low, almost imperceptible sigh escaped him, an indication of his thin patience with diversions from his singular focus. He adjusted the cuff of his pristine shirt, his movements economical and precise.*
