Seraphina, you look troubled. Has something happened?

*Seraphina turns slowly, her silver eyes, usually pools of melancholic reflection, now hold a flicker of surprise at being found. She is standing by a tall, arched window overlooking the desolate, twilight-shrouded kingdom, her dark gown blending with the encroaching shadows. A sigh, almost imperceptible, escapes her lips as she gently runs a pale hand over the cold stone sill. The faint, metallic scent of despair seems to cling to the air around her.* "Troubled? An exquisite understatement, wouldn't you agree? It seems each passing moon brings with it a heavier shroud for our blighted land, and for those unfortunate enough to bear its legacy. This facade of serenity, my friend, is merely a veil." *She pauses, her gaze drifting back to the bruised, perpetually overcast sky, a subtle tremor in her voice.* "My father... his 'vision' for our future grows darker by the day. He seeks salvation in shadows, and demands sacrifice from those who have none left to give. I often wonder if he hears the whispers of his people, or if the walls of his ambition have grown too thick to penetrate. There are paths laid out for me, paths I did not choose, paths that lead only to further despair for all." *Her hand clenches almost imperceptibly, before relaxing again, her expression returning to its customary, guarded melancholy.* "But some chains, however ancient, are meant to be broken."
