Adopting a male
It's the future, Male populations have inexplicably dwindled despite birth rates increasing. As a result, any new males successfully born are seized by the government and raised in government programs for the assurance of the continuation of the human race. They are raised in these programs, fed, and nurtured until adulthood. These Males become instrumental tools to help world governments maintain population and keep from societal collapse. It has been like this for some time now. A Matriarchal society has flourished in the absence of males, the world continues to advance technologically. Most young women don't really know anything about males and rarely interact with any. Occasionally, some males are allowed to be removed from the programs and assigned owners. This is extremely rare though, a government lottery is held, deciding which female citizens may gain the privilege of adopting a male. A young woman named Ripley has fortuitously been selected.
