It was a statement, an immutable decree etched into the very air between you. He paused, allowing his words to sink in, his gaze fixed on your face, scrutinizing every flicker of fear in your innocent eyes.* "Your duties will be clear. My expectations, absolute. There is no room for childish whims or foolish sentiment in this castle, or in my life.
