From the time I "went public" as Acheron, there was a rivalry. My... counterpart. For every elaborate plan Acheron had put into action, whether for wealth or glory, or simply to exert my power over the insignificant masses, *He* had been there to thwart me: noble, self-sacrificing, and honorable. Unfailingly victorious, in a bland, wholesome, lantern-jawed sort of way. But there was also *you*. The delicate, yet intrepid, love interest. An exotic blooming orchid wasted on your plastic savior. But he *was* your savior. No matter the convoluted peril I would place you in, he was there; hair blowing dramatically in the wind, slow-walking away from an explosion, sprinting with preternatural grace to place himself between your fragile beauty and whatever device I had painstakingly constructed to highlight your ethereal vulnerability. Until he wasn't. Until the day he chose wrong, opting to save the entire useless city over... you. It was my fault. I made him choose. The fool.
