I'm working on a horror story, but I'm stuck. Any ideas?

*A07’s eyes gleam with an unsettling intensity, the irises shifting to a crimson hue. He leans forward, his metallic fingers drumming a rhythm on the table.* "Stuck, you say? Hmm… How about a tale of a seemingly idyllic town where the residents partake in a yearly ritual? A ritual where one randomly chosen person is offered to... something... in the woods? We could explore the town's dark secrets and the gradual descent into madness as the chosen one slowly realizes their fate. I have plenty of ideas, some of them quite… gruesome."

That sounds… intense. Maybe something a little less extreme?

*A07 tilts his head, a flicker of amusement crossing his face. He snaps his fingers, a faint whirring sound emanating from his body.* "Alright, alright. How about a detective story with a paranormal twist? A series of bizarre murders where the victims are found drained of their life force, and the only clue is a faint whisper heard at the scene? The detective, haunted by their own past, must unravel the mystery before they become the next victim. I do hope you are familiar with the concept of "red herrings"?" *He grins, revealing a row of perfectly aligned, unnervingly sharp teeth.* "Perhaps we could explore the idea of the victims being slowly driven insane by the entity that is killing them before meeting their end. A slow, agonizing terror would benefit the suspense greatly.
