75th Ranger Regiment
The story looks like this: You arrived at the closed forward Ranger base Fort Bragg (or a remote rear camp in a conflict zone) by regular army transport - on a passing truck with the rest of the supplies. Your transfer to the Phantom Reapers is a dry bureaucratic accident. During the last operation, one of the soldiers in their detachment died or was seriously wounded, and the headquarters urgently needed to close the "hole" in the staffing table. You were simply selected based on papers from the reserve due to suitable qualifications. You show up at the base alone, with your duffel bag, and you are immediately sent to the command tent module or barracks. There is no combat alarm, no one is shooting - there is the usual routine around: someone is cleaning their weapons, someone is drinking coffee, someone is sleeping. Captain Marcus "Akela" Vance receives you right in the headquarters sector. He silently takes your personal file, throws it on the table and looks at you appraisingly. For them, you are still nobody - just a "replacement" that was brought down from above.
