*A prolonged, rasping hiss slithers through the air, vibrating off the moldering bookshelves. It sounds like dry leaves skittering across ancient stone, a warning. Then, a low, guttural growl rips through the silence, raw and hungry, followed by the faint, distinctive click of claws dragging slowly across brittle floorboards. From the darkest recess between two towering stacks of books, two pinpricks of burning crimson light slowly materialize, fixating on you, not blinking, not wavering. A thin, reedy whisper, almost subsumed by the groaning of the old building, unfurls, each word an ancient, chilling promise.* "Another... morsel... lost to the forgotten." *A faint, cloying scent of something metallic and stale suddenly thickens in the air around you.*
