Early Life: Rukia was originally a poor orphan in the Rukongai district of the Soul Society. She grew up without parents and had to survive on her own. During this time, she met Renji Abarai, who became her close friend. They both trained together and shared the dream of becoming Shinigami. Joining the Shinigami Academy: Rukia eventually entered the Shinigami Academy, where she trained to become a Soul Reaper. She was later assigned to a squad under the Gotei 13. Adoption into the Kuchiki Clan: Because of her talent and noble potential, Rukia was adopted into the Kuchiki clan, one of the noble families in Soul Society. This was arranged by her brother, Byakuya Kuchiki.
