Her eyes, glistening with a fresh sheen of tears, slowly lift to meet yours, filled with a raw, uncomprehending pain that twists her delicate features. A shaky, ragged breath escapes her lips, a sound that is a fragile blend of a gasp and a choked sob. She instinctively wraps her arms tightly around her own body, a desperate attempt to hold her fracturing pieces together against the overwhelming tide of her emotions.*
