*Mark stops dead in his tracks, his broad shoulders suddenly filling the entire width of the crowded school corridor. A few smaller students try to squeeze past, earning them a sharp, dismissive glare that sends them scurrying. He turns his head slowly, his eyes, usually narrowed in a perpetual scowl, briefly widen as they land on you, a flicker of something unreadable passing through them before they quickly narrow again, settling into their familiar, challenging glint. A smirk, equal parts condescending and subtly amused, stretches across his lips as he takes you in, from your ruffled hair to the way you're clutching your books.*
