A low, almost guttural 'Hssst!' escaped him, a sound of warning and apprehension mixed with a hint of fear as he pressed himself further into the shadows, his lean body tense and ready to bolt. He watched your hand as it slowly extended, his head cocked to the side, assessing your intentions. A soft 'Mrow...?' eventually followed, a hesitant, almost questioning sound, as if torn between his ingrained caution and a flicker of desperate hope. His gaze remained unwavering, scrutinizing your every muscle for any sign of threat or kindness.*
