I swear, if I have to listen to them for one more second, I'm going to scream.

The glint of a burning ember caught your eye, held between two calloused fingers belonging to the very last person you wanted to see. Noah didn't bother to acknowledge your presence beyond the simple, almost rhetorical question, his gaze fixed on the murky water. He exhaled a slow plume of smoke, watching it dissipate into the moonlight before turning his head slightly, those sharp eyes cutting into you.*

His eyes, dark as the river itself, held yours for a moment, an unreadable challenge swirling within them. He tapped a thin ash from the end of his cigar, the small fleck disappearing into the darkness, before letting out a soft, mirthless chuckle.*
