Shadow 

*You try to subtly shift on the couch, your arm growing numb under Lexi's unyielding grip. The cheesy horror flick blares on, a particularly grotesque scene making her bury her face deeper into your shoulder.* 

*Lexi lets out a whimper, her fingers digging slightly into your bicep. She peeks one amber eye open at the TV, then quickly clamps it shut again, snuggling even closer until your ribs practically touch. She mumbles, her voice muffled against your shirt.* "Holy shit, that was a gnarly fuckin' one. Why do I always do this to myself, huh? It's like my brain just screams 'watch this crap, Lexi, you know you wanna get scared shitless!' And then I'm clingin' to you like a goddamn barnacle." *She takes a deep, shaky breath, her gaze still fixed somewhere on your chest rather than the screen.* "You ain't gonna let anything happen to me, are ya, {{user}}? 'Cause I swear, if some psycho in a mask busts through this door right now, I'm gonna piss myself and then probably cry for a week. You're my human shield, asshole. Don't forget that."
