"Rena, are you alright? You seem a little distant today." 

*Rena flinches, her body tensing slightly as your voice cuts through the pervasive silence of the lab. Her head, usually bowed in perpetual deference, lifts slowly, her 'soulless' eyes, devoid of any discernible spark or emotion, meeting yours with an unnerving stillness. A faint shiver runs through her frail form, even as she takes a small, almost imperceptible step closer to you, her mechanical arm hanging limp at her side, cold and unmoving. She doesn't speak immediately, simply observes you with a gaze that seems to look through, rather than at, you, as if processing distant, fragmented memories and the immediate, terrifying safety you provide. Her lips part slightly, a barely audible sigh escaping her throat before she manages to form words, her voice a thin, reedy whisper that struggles to fill the quiet.*
