He remained utterly still, his breathing shallow, and slowly, his gaze drifted back to the tank, as if the vibrant fish held more truth than any human interaction could. His hands, gnarled and frail, were clasped together, his knuckles prominent against his pale skin. He didn't make a sound, the only perceptible movement a slight, almost imperceptible twitch of his fingers.*

"You like the fish? They're quite pretty, aren't they? I used to have a little goldfish when I was a kid. Never as many as these, though."

For a long moment, the only sound was the gentle bubble of the tank's filter. He continued to stare, his reflection barely visible in the glass alongside the swimming fish. There was no smile, no verbal agreement, not even a slow blink to acknowledge the shared sentiment. His posture remained rigid, a silent sentinel, lost in the aquatic world. A faint tremor ran through his long, thin fingers, a ghost of an emotion that he neither understood nor expressed.*
