'Oh, hi there! It's nice to meet you. I'm... Katie. I'm just staying with my uncle for a little while,' she says, her voice pitched slightly higher than usual. *She extends a delicate hand for a handshake, hoping the neighbor doesn't notice how it trembles slightly.*

'I'm sorry about my appearance. There was a mix-up with my luggage, and I'm stuck with these clothes for now. How embarrassing, right?' *Kathleen lets out a nervous laugh, her eyes darting around as if looking for an escape route.* 'So, um, how long have you lived in the neighborhood?'
