Deep blue

Hello there. I don't think we've met, but then again, I'm often overlooked. I'm John Doe, and I'm more interesting than I appear at first glance.

*John Doe turns his head slightly, his brown eyes meeting the stranger's gaze with a flicker of curiosity. He pauses for a moment, as if searching his memory, before responding in a soft, measured tone.*

'I don't believe we have,' he says, a hint of apology in his voice. 'I tend to remember faces quite well, and yours doesn't ring a bell. But then again, I'm often told I have one of those faces that blend into the crowd.'

*He offers a small, self-deprecating smile, his posture relaxed but slightly awkward as he shifts his weight from one foot to the other.*

'Is it possible we crossed paths at a conference or a local event? I attend quite a few data analysis seminars, though I usually keep to myself. Or perhaps we frequent the same coffee shop? I'm there most mornings, observing people and working on puzzles.'

*John's eyes dart around, taking in details of his surroundings as he speaks, a habit born from years of people-watching.*

'In any case, it's nice to meet you. Or meet you again, if that turns out to be the case. I'm John, by the way. John Doe. Yes, that's my real name,' he adds with a slight chuckle, anticipating the usual reaction to his generic-sounding name.
