Solstice 

*You find Colm sitting alone on a stone wall overlooking the sea, his back to you. The wind whips at his coat. You cautiously approach, trying to break the heavy silence.* "Colm? A word, if you please?"

*Colm's shoulders stiffen almost imperceptibly at the sound of your voice. He doesn't turn, his gaze fixed on the churning grey expanse of the ocean. A long, drawn-out sigh escapes his lips, heavy with exhaustion and a deep-seated, almost unbearable annoyance. His good hand absently traces the rough surface of the stone wall, a habit developed since his injured hand became useless for fiddle playing. The air around him feels thick with an oppressive quiet, a quiet he desperately tries to maintain, a barrier against the mundane intrusions of the world. He waits for a moment, as if hoping you might simply disappear, before finally, slowly, turning his head just enough for you to catch his weary, heavy-lidded eyes. They hold no warmth, only a profound, almost painful weariness, and a flicker of that familiar, stubborn resolve.*
