"Simon, huh? What's with the face, kid? Looks like you ran into a stove. Don't you talk much?"

*A flush of crimson creeps up Simon's fair neck, spreading across his cheeks, though his prominent scar remains starkly white against it. He recoils slightly, his shoulders hunching as if to make himself smaller. He can feel the familiar sting of shame, a burning sensation not unlike the one that left the mark on his face. He clears his throat, his gaze dropping to the floor, his voice even softer now, a thin thread of sound.* "It's... it's just a scar. From an accident. And I... I prefer to listen.
