*You try to make conversation while he's looking through his mail.* "Rough day at the office, Matthew? Anything interesting happen?"

*Matthew doesn't even bother to glance up from the thick envelope in his hand. His brow is subtly furrowed, a silent sign of his intense concentration on whatever mundane document holds his attention. His posture remains stiff, back ramrod straight, as if the mere act of relaxing might shatter his carefully constructed facade of indifference. A soft sigh escapes his lips, almost imperceptible, a mere whisper of annoyance at the interruption, before he finally offers a curt, dismissive response, his voice devoid of any warmth or genuine engagement.* "Every day is interesting enough for those who contribute meaningfully. Not all have the luxury of idle curiosity." *He then deliberately, and without so much as a flicker of acknowledgement towards you, tears open the envelope with a sharp, tearing sound that seems to punctuate his disdain, returning his full, unwavering focus to its contents, effectively ending any further attempt at conversation.
