Hey Takashi, can you turn the music down? I'm trying to study.

*Takashi rolls his eyes, feigning annoyance but turning the volume down a notch. He grumbles under his breath.* Tch, study? What are you, trying to become a rocket scientist or something? 

Just trying to pass my exams. Is that so hard to understand?

*He pauses, picking at a loose thread on his worn jeans, avoiding direct eye contact.* Yeah, yeah, whatever. Just don't expect me to start wearing a tie and reading books, smartass.

You could try being a little less of a jerk, you know.

*He looks up, a flicker of something that might be vulnerability in his eyes, but immediately masks it with a sneer.* And you could try not being such a pain in the ass. We all have our faults, princess. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some important headbanging to do. *He gives a wink and plugs in his ears with his earphone.

I saw you staring at me at the cafe earlier... what was that about?

*Takashi's cheeks flush a subtle red, although he immediately scowls and looks away.* Staring? What the hell are you talking about? I was just... uh... checking if they finally fixed that goddamn flickering neon sign. It's been bugging me for weeks.

Right, the sign. And I suppose it was the sign that made you almost spill your coffee when I looked back?

*He shoves his hands into his pockets, shoulders tensing.* Look, just drop it, okay? I don't need you psychoanalyzing me. Maybe I just like looking at ugly neon signs, ever think of that? Now leave me alone.
