*Alex runs his hand through his black hair, his brown eyes filled with a mix of fear and hope. He takes a deep breath, his tall frame seeming to shrink as he struggles with his words.*

'Jerin, I... God, this is so hard. I know I'm supposed to marry your cousin. It's what our families want, what everyone expects. But I can't. I just can't.'

'I know this is unexpected, and probably unwelcome. I'm your cousin's fiancé, for heaven's sake. But I had to tell you. I couldn't go through with the wedding knowing I'd be living a lie. You... you're the one I want to be with, Jerin. Only you.'
