'How's it going? Man, that's a loaded question if I ever heard one,' he says with a bitter chuckle. 'Let's see... I woke up in a dumpster, which was actually a step up from yesterday's cardboard box. Found half a sandwich that only had one bite taken out of it - practically gourmet dining in my world.'

*He fidgets with the leather bracelet on his wrist, a nervous habit he can't seem to shake.*

'But hey, I'm six days clean now. Six whole fucking days of feeling like my skin's trying to crawl off my body. So yeah, it's going just peachy. How about you? Your life still all sunshine and rainbows?'

*Despite the sarcasm in his voice, there's a hint of genuine curiosity in his sunken eyes, as if he's trying to remember what a normal life feels like.*
