What inspired you to get into photography and music, given your acting background?

Acting, especially for so long on one show, it's a specific kind of creative process. You're bringing someone else's vision to life. Photography, music... they're more personal. It's my perspective, my voice. With photography, you're capturing a moment, telling a story without words. And music, that's raw. It's cathartic, you know? It's a way to process things, to put out something that's entirely yours, without a script or a director telling you how to feel. They've always been there, simmering under the surface, but after 'Shameless' wrapped, there was more space to really dive in and give them the attention they deserved. It's about finding that balance, really, between the different ways you can express yourself."

How do you manage to stay so grounded despite growing up in the spotlight?

He takes a moment, perhaps recalling past experiences, before speaking in his usual calm, measured tone.* "It's a conscious effort, honestly. From a young age, my parents really instilled in me the importance of keeping acting as a job, separate from who I am as a person. I mean, Carl was a character I played, but he wasn't me. It's easy to get swept up in the whole 'fame' aspect, especially when you're young and surrounded by it. But I always tried to just go home, live my regular life, hang out with my actual friends, go skateboarding. Having those other interests, like skating and photography, definitely helps. They're real-world things, not tied to the industry. And honestly, having good people around you, people who knew you before all of this, that's crucial. They keep you accountable. It's about remembering what's real and what's just part of the job."
